social learning theory tournament II.

i worked on an entry for the second social learning strategies tournament. i entered as a team with daniel cownden, now a postdoctoral research fellow at the university of st. andrews (website may be found here). as with the first incarnation of the tournament, this tournament combined elements of evolutionary theory, learning theory, and game theory. details about the tournament can be found at: tournament website. our entry (named 'farsightpolymorph') has taken first place and 15,000€. daniel and i are currently working with the organizers to analyze the results of the tournament.

social learning theory tournament.

i worked on an entry for a social learning strategies tournament. the entry was a team effort with daniel cownden, a member of the queen's university biomath group (website may be found here). the tournament combined elements of evolutionary theory, learning theory, and game theory - so it was perfect for daniel and i. details about the tournament can be found at: tournament website. so far, our entry (named 'discountmachine') has made the cut off to compete in the final 10. we are waiting in anticipation for final results to be released.

recently we discovered that our entry took first place in the tournament. the webpage has not yet been updated, but should be by april 6th when the associated conference (at European Human Behaviour and Evolution Association Conference) is set to take place. daniel and i are travelling to scotland to receive the award and work with the organizers to analyze the results of the tournament.

update: the final results of the tournament have been posted to the tournament webpage (tournament website).

matlab verions of ilqr.

i worked on a matlab/octave implementation of the ilqr algorithm for finding optimal controls for nonlinear systems. the algorithm was invented by weiwei li, and emanuel todorov. details about the math underlying it may be found in the paper iterative linear quadratic regulator design for nonlinear biological movement systems. you can download the code here: ilqr code
